If you wish to have a service at St Peter's after you have been married somewhere else (say, abroad, or in a Register Office), a Service of Prayer and Dedication after a Civil Marriage (often called a Service of Blessing) can be arranged.
It is very similar to a Wedding Service! There are hymns, prayers, the blessing of the ring(s), and a form of dedication which contains all the well-known phrases ("for better, for worse, for richer and poorer...")
The differences may, in fact, be helpful! For instance, there are more choices to be made about which prayers to have (see the Blessing service.) Secondly, bride and groom walk up the aisle together. The rest of the service is virtually identical to the Wedding Service.
Another difference is the cost of the service! If you intend to have a service with the organ, flowers and quite a few guests (in other words, a service which is quite similar to a wedding service) the fees are set out below. If, on the other hand, you wish to have a quiet service with only a very few people present, fees are very, very modest indeed.
Please contact the Rector if you want to know more.

St
Peter’s church has only three bells, hung for chiming. If you wish, we
will chime the bells at the end of the service for a few minutes (there is
no fee.) |
